Glossary Item Box

User interface for managing system personalization can be accessed through control panel, section Server menu Personalization. User interface consists of three sections and several commands for working with these sections. Everything in this user interface revolves around the templates or files stored when personalization is made in an application.

Personalization Directories

In this section folders for storing template files are defined. For folder management several commands are available. Commands are accessible through menus on the ribbon.

Command Description
New Folder  Creates new folder in the node currently selected in Personalization Directories section.
Remove Folder Deletes the folder selected in the list in section Personalization Directories. Delete operation must be confirmed.
Remove File Deletes the file selected in section Files. Delete operation must be confirmed.

To rename previously created folder click the desired node and press F2 key on the keyboard.

Directory Security

It is possible to manage security for individual directory. With the security it is possible to define whether a user, or any other entity, has access to the files in the directory. It is also possible to define whether user can add new files in the directory and whether user can change the name of the files. When managing the security, it is possible to prevent different users from using or creating new templates. See chapter Personalization Directory Security for detailed instructions on how to specify security policy.

Files

Section Files contains all layouts and templates stored in the directory currently selected in section Personalization Directories. Each file is presented with a card. Card contains information such as name of the file, owner of the file, workstation and date of the file. It is also possible to see the type of the file, is it report template, grid layout or user interface layout. Each of these properties can be changed. It is also possible to filter the displayed files by each of the property.

Access Permissions

In this section all available entities are displayed and it is possible to define which users have the access to a file or a template and which not. Following entities are available:

For individual file it is possible to define who has the access to it and whether this is the default template for the user.

To grant access to a file for a user and set the template to be its default one

  1. Run MX-Client.
  2. Login using account with administrative privileges.
  3. Click application menu button and select Control Panel.
  4. Click Personalization in Server section.
  5. In Personalization Directories section select the folder containing the desired template.
  6. From the templates listed in section Files select the desired one.
  7. In Access Permissions section select the desired user and check Has Access and Is Default option.

Selected user now has the privilege to access the template. Besides that, template is also user’s default template.
