Glossary Item Box

Control panel is a part of the MX-Client that allows user to control and define various settings. Control panel is an access point for several types of configuration such as system, environment, security, server, etc. Due to the nature of features available in control panel the access to it is restricted. Only users with administrative privileges are allowed to access control panel.

In order to access Control Panel library Mx.Configuration.Bootstrapper must be registered in MX-Client. The library is not installed with MX-Client, Enterprise or Standalone edition. Configuration library is installed with MX-Developer and MX-Server installation. Configuration library can be added manually at any time by a user with appropriate credentials.

To add Control Panel to MX-Client manually

  1. Copy Mx.Configuration.dll file to MX-Client’s Components folder.
  2. Run Mx-Client and login using administrative user account.
  3. Click application menu button.
  4. Click Settings and select Library Registry.
  5. In Available Libraries list under Metronik d.o.o. section select Mx.Configuration.Bootstrapper library.
  6. Restart MX-Client and login using administrative user account. In application menu Control Panel option is available.

Once Control Panel is accessible it is possible to manage user accounts. Administrator can create, modify and import user accounts. It is possible to define different roles and profiles for an account. Workgroups can be created. Workgroups bind users with similar characteristics. Workgroups are then useful when security or personalization is managed.

Entire system configuration is done in control panel. Profiles can be added and defined in order to customize the appearance of MX-Client for individual user. It is possible to configure each workstation and workplace. Localization manager for system strings is also accessed from control panel.

Some basic settings for MX-Server can be managed from control panel. Individual solutions can be managed, projects deployed to server’s updates folders, personalization can managed for all users, management for electronic signature and audit trail, etc. New libraries can also be registered here and published on the server in order to update all enterprise clients.
